Sam Jarvis (2001)

Gerrit

Just wanted to let you know how enjoyable it was reading up on 'University History of BMX'.

It was great reminising about the old days at Slagharen and it brought back many fond memories.

I think I qualify for being part of the 'old school' as my registration number plate was the first ever in the UK - '001' which I think I still have somewhere! I'm sure our paths crossed as you obviously knew my parents (Malc and Sue Jarvis) and a whole host of familiar names....Geoff Wiles, Alan Rushton etc.

It was also sad to read about Winnie - he was definately one of the characters of BMX and always had a big grin on him.

I've recently moved over to Sydney and am feeling the urge to return to my roots and get involved in BMX in some way - probably not competing as I think my days as British Champion are long gone!! I have been reading all the BMX mags out here and the excitement of it all is flooding back.

I look forward to reading more on your website.

Kind regards,

Sam Jarvis (August 2001)
